I bought the yarn for this piece in Ireland (although it is available in the US) and began knitting, based on something I had seen there. All the way home on the flight I knit and knit and knit, anxious to see if what I saw in my mind would translate to the fabric. (We knitters can be obsessive, especially when a stitch pattern is both repetitive and interesting.) When done, I was astounded! And others were similarly affected ‘cause, when I wear it, it stops traffic! It’s one of my favorite pieces, and I gave it the title I did as a way of saying, “Welcome to our universe!”
