Sports Stuff
The theme for this issue is active-wear to knit and knitting as an activity.
Think of sports: the body is involved, but it's not just movement. The motion is purposeful; there's a game to win, a skill to improve, a challenge to meet. Now consider knitting: the endless repetitions of a ribbing, the thrill of a successful 5-to-1 decrease, the pleasure of watching another's experienced hands move the stitches differently. Knitting is sport!
This issue includes:
- Knitting on the go: Learn to increase your mobility. Discover history's solutions to the question of where to hold needles and yarn as you walk and knit. With Kate Martinson.
- Salt and pepper yarns: Many yarns traditional to sportswear share a mottled look. Priscilla Gibson-Roberts gives information for the yarn buyer and spinner.
- Golf wear, cross-country stockings, a terry wrap, bright tights and knee warmers.
