Anna describes this mitten as follows: "This pattern is as simple as many of the small repeats. It is, however, a 14-stitch repeat and does not fit evenly into the 24-stitch thumb. Hence each row of the thumb chart must be worked from R to L and L to R. Because it is so simple, it lends itself to various embellishments. I've added rose beads to the mitten and cuff edge. One could also fill the squares with Palestrina knots or with Smyrna crosses. When embroidering on knitting, you can try anything and if you don't like it, take it out without leaving a trace. I have reversed colors A and B on the second mitten for a little variation. There's no need to do this if you'd rather not."The wool for this kit is 55% mohair, 45% merino -- luxuriously lustrous, strong wearing with a silky, pleasing feel. It's the same yarns used by Anna Zilboorg to knit her Magnificent Mittens. The yarns are hand-dyed by Merike Saarniit, using Anna's very own dye recipes!
The pattern is not included so, If you don't already own Magnificent Mittens, you'll want to order a copy from below!
For that AAAH feeling don't forget to order the Angora lining yarn!
"An unusual phenomenon occurs when people try on Anna's mittens," says Merike Saarnit of Liisu. "First, we
get the expected 'oohs' and 'aaahs' as knitters look at the mittens. When we encourage them to try them on, we never get tired of seeing the expressions of delight cross their faces as their hand reached into the angora lining of these magnificent mittens. Once the mittens are on their hands, and the sensuality of the feel gets their full attention knitters realize not do they look beautiful, they feel marvelous!"
